DPF & EGR Repairs

Modern diesel vehicles use systems like DPF/DPD and EGR/SCR to reduce harmful emissions and comply with government requirements.

Overview

When a fault occurs with your emissions system the vehicle will likely go into a 'limp home mode' and severely derate your engine, rendering the vehicle undriveable. Contact NDS for effective DPF and EGR repairs.

Understanding DPF & EGR

What is a DPF?

What is a DPF?

A DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) or DPD (Diesel Particulate Diffuser) is, put simply, a filter fitted to the exhaust of diesel engines. When the vehicle computer detects the filter is blocked it initiates a 'regen' or 'burn', raising the exhaust temperature significantly to clear it. If the regen is ineffective or a fault is detected the vehicle goes into limp mode — NDS have the equipment and expertise to diagnose and repair these faults, then reset the computer to have you on your way again.

What is EGR?

What is EGR?

EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) uses a valve to allow a portion of your engine's exhaust gas back into the intake manifold, diluting the clean air drawn into the engine to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. An unwelcome side effect is a heavy build-up of carbon in the intake manifold, restricting air flow and causing economy and performance issues until the computer detects a fault and puts the vehicle into limp mode until repaired.
